Coffeehouse Season 2 Press Release

Lineup for Harmony on the Green’s Concert Series Second Season Announced

LEXINGTON –  After a smashing inaugural season last year, the new Harmony on the Green coffeehouse concert series returns this September for a second season of terrific live music in the heart of Lexington.

The second season will kick off on Saturday, September 30th  with singer/songwriter and storyteller Kemp Harris with harmonica artist Adam O. A songwriter since the age of 14, Kemp has shared the stage with Taj Mahal, Gil Scott-Heron, and Koko Taylor. He has written and performed original compositions for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and WGBH public television. Singer songwriter Lydia Harrell, who recently performed as part of the cast of the Boston Pops Ragtime concert, will open the show.

Harmony on the Green will feature 3 more concerts this season including award winning and contemporary Pan-Latin ensemble Sol y Canto (with Nicolás Emden opening), and award winning singer-songwriter Antje Duvekot, fresh off the release of her new album. Legendary singer-songwriter and storyteller Vance Gilbert will round out the season.

Tickets are a suggested donation of $20 for adults, $10 for kids, and $50 max per family. Only 100 seats will be sold–reservations are strongly recommended. They can be purchased at www.hancockchurch.org/coffeehouse. Free parking is available in the rear, and the church is handicap accessible.

“Our first season was a great success,”says Hancock’s Director of Music, Mark Morgan, “and this new season looks even better. I love that these shows really bring all sorts of people together to enjoy, and participate in, an evening of song and story from various perspectives and traditions. We have an especially eclectic and diverse lineup this year, all right in the heart of Lexington. ”

The concerts are open to all, regardless of financial means. “It is important to us to enable everyone who wants to, to come, so we have a suggested donation rather than a ticket price,” continues Morgan, “the shows are also appropriate for all ages and we encourage families to come.”
