LICA

The Lexington Interfaith Clergy Association (LICA) is comprised of spiritual leaders from Lexington, Massachusetts area faith communities, representing the traditions of Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, Unitarian Universalism, Buddhism and Sikhism.

Faith communities in Lexington have for many years actively worked to increase understanding of and respect for one another’s religious traditions.  We gather annually for a worship service in the week of Thanksgiving, preach and worship in one another’s sanctuaries, stand and work together in opposition to racism, violence, xenophobia, and threats to the right of every person to practice the faith of their choosing.  LICA’s public witness against poverty and injustice has been consistently strong for decades. Hancock’s ministers participate in, and often lead LICA events, as we seek to embody our mission commitment to build community in a diverse world.

The LICA mission statement says:

The Lexington Interfaith Clergy Association gathers religious leaders in an atmosphere of respect, openness, enjoyment, and trust: to learn from one another; to support one another; to witness to the spirit that holds us all in community and calls us to seek mutual understanding and vibrant pluralism; and to foster in our town, values that encourage community building, social justice and that which elevates and sustains the human spirit.

LICA hosts an interfaith Thanksgiving service every year (last years’ service was at Hancock UCC), and supports a variety of interfaith events such as:
