Flights of Fancy will be performed by the early music ensemble A Joyful Noyse, a group of professional and talented amateur early music performers in residence at the church. Usually performing liturgical music, this concert is a departure into the realm of the secular. It focuses on the rich history of fascination and inspiration that birds and their songs have been to composers. The concert will make a musical journey through France, Italy, England, and Germany in both the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Included will be ensemble vocal music by Monteverdi, Janequin, and Gbbons; a humorous Baroque violin sonata by Biber; solo vocal cantatas, and much more. A flock of early instruments will accompany the proceedings, including violas da gamba, harpsichord, recorders, crumhorns, and a rackett!
