What’s New At the Lexington Food Pantry?

Normally I report on the Interfaith Garden, but this week I was one of 4 Hancock volunteers at the Lexington Food Pantry. So instead of dropping off freshly harvested vegetables and herbs from the Interfaith Garden, I helped distribute rice, prepackaged meals and soup directly to the families in need. Last Saturday, 7 hardworking members from Redeemer, First Baptist, Lexington Methodist, Pilgrim, and Hancock harvested 218.5 lbs of produce! That’s four carts!  Come join us! No experience needed. Hancock in Ft. Wayne!

Amy and Lisle Swanson, and Scott Martin are back from Fort Wayne, Indiana, where they built homes with Blitz Home Builders and Habitat for Humanity. Despite rain delays and wet mud, it looks like they were able to get the roofs on all of the houses! The Hancock Christian Service Committee is requesting immediate support to Lift Up Lexington by launching a Families In Transition (FIT) program. Our purpose is to assist in long-term support of currently 18+ families in the Lexington area that are living in Emergency housing. CSC is coordinating efforts with our Hancock Lift Up Lexington team leads Nicole Locher and Kelley Littlewood and the Interfaith Clergy. April is National Garden Month, a perfect time to volunteer at Interfaith Garden! Hancock gardeners are scheduled to work on Saturday, April 5, 9-10:30am Tuesday, April 15, 4:30-6pm. Interfaith Garden welcomes new volunteers and all ages. No prior experience is necessary. All tools are supplied. Parking is available behind First Parish Church. Curious about organic farming?
