The work done by the Pantry’s director and many volunteers serves clientele such as elderly residents, single adults, and...

It only takes 3 hours on the second Saturday of each month, and you’ll be finished before noontime. Review of Interfaith Garden 2015

Read the entire End of Year Report here: Garden Report 2015_11_01 (PDF) The Interfaith Garden officially closed its gate on Oct 27th for this year.  Over the season, the Garden delivered 1,666 pounds of fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs to the Lexington Food Pantry.  45 varieties of produce and herbs were harvested. Top crop?  Would you believe bok choy at 257 pounds?  With many Asian clients at the Pantry, this vegetable was happily welcomed.  The Garden’s success was the outcome of a true community effort with...
Our 'Habitat for Hancock' Angels

Our ‘Habitat for Hancock’ Angels

Sixteen Habitat for Hancock angels put in 80 hours of volunteer work this four day weekend to completely renovate the dining room storage closet! The storage space was emptied, cleaned, patched, sanded, primed, painted, sorted, and reorganized from the ceiling to the floor, and a broken electrical outlet was replaced. It is now sparkling, fresh-smelling, safe, and very efficiently organized. Thank you angels so much for sharing your time and your talent. For the cost of one gallon of paint and a couple rollers, they were able to...
What's New At the Lexington Food Pantry?

What’s New At the Lexington Food Pantry?

Normally I report on the Interfaith Garden, but this week I was one of 4 Hancock volunteers at the Lexington Food Pantry. So instead of dropping off freshly harvested vegetables and herbs from the Interfaith Garden, I helped distribute rice, prepackaged meals and soup directly to the families in need. The other Hancock volunteers handled other staples, like pasta, cereal, peanut butter, etc. At the end of the morning, we received an update from Carolyn Wortman, longtime volunteer Pantry coordinator, about what is new at...
