  Each Interfaith Garden growing season, Lexington’s Catholic Community of Sacred Heart and St. Brigid Parishes jointly work together with other faith communities to raise fresh produce for Lexington Food Pantry. May and June Interfaith Gardeners Needed

Since 2010, Interfaith Garden volunteers have grown and delivered fresh vegetables, herbs and fruit to Lexington’s Food Pantry. Each growing season, volunteers of all ages from12 faith communities and also local service groups work and learn together while planting, tending and harvesting organically grown produce. Hancock Church provides volunteers once or twice a month, late March through October. Many families enjoy gardening together—and wheeling over carts of harvested produce to Lexington Food Pantry on Saturday mornings. Interfaith Garden 2014 end of season report

The last harvest on Nov 1, brought our season total to a high of 2,015 pounds. Over a ton of fresh, nutritious produce was grown and donated to the Lexington Food Pantry this past season.  Hancock is a key supporter of the Interfaith Garden. The 30+ pounds harvested last Saturday brings the season’s total to 1,991 pounds so far this year, well above our prior best of 1,637. The good weather, crop rotation and care under the tutelage of Carla has made for a remarkable year. Thanks to all the volunteers who make this project so successful. Interfaith Garden: A Great Family Outing!

Last Sunday, Hancock Church children, youth and adults stopped by Interfaith Garden to see what’s growing. All learned more about growing vegetables, herbs and fruit-from seed or seedling and tending to harvest. Interfaith Garden volunteering makes an ideal family outing. Kids enjoy gardening alongside people of all ages-and wheeling produce-filled carts to Lexington’s Food Pantry on Saturday mornings during harvest season! Dear Friends, I would like to invite you all back to the Garden on Sunday, 5/18th at 2pm for a special event to celebrate our 5th season.
