LEXINGTON FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS OF FOOD AND VOLUNTEER TIME! Now that the holidays are over, let’s not forget the continuing need for nourishing food, especially during the colder months.  The Lexington Interfaith Food Pantry and its clients rely on the generous donation of food, funds, and volunteer time, from members of many Lexington organizations including Hancock Church. The work done by the Pantry’s director and many volunteers serves clientele such as elderly residents, single adults, and families with young children, who rely on assistance...

The Lexington Interfaith Food Pantry

How To Feed a Stranger The Lexington Interfaith Food Pantry provides sustaining food to families and individuals on a weekly basis.  Hancock Church has supported this organization for many years, both with volunteers and with food distributed by the Food Pantry to strangers and neighbors in our community who must rely on the generosity of strangers – us – for assistance in meeting basic food needs. The work done by the Pantry’s director and many volunteers serves clientele such as elderly residents, single adults, and...

Come Join the Interfaith Garden!

Hancock helps maintain a garden growing produce for the Lexington Food Pantry. From March thru October we work along with members of other faith communities in a backyard garden in Lexington Center. We plant, weed, chat (a lot) and nurture this garden. On Saturdays we harvest and deliver that same morning to the Pantry. Our produce is added to donations from other giving gardens. Here is a thank you from the director of the Food Pantry: * * * “…Now on a Saturday morning, the...

The Lexington Interfaith Garden, which last year produced literally a ton of produce for the Pantry, continues on. The Giving Garden at the Church of Our Redeemer...

What's New At the Lexington Food Pantry?

What’s New At the Lexington Food Pantry?

Normally I report on the Interfaith Garden, but this week I was one of 4 Hancock volunteers at the Lexington Food Pantry. So instead of dropping off freshly harvested vegetables and herbs from the Interfaith Garden, I helped distribute rice, prepackaged meals and soup directly to the families in need. The other Hancock volunteers handled other staples, like pasta, cereal, peanut butter, etc. At the end of the morning, we received an update from Carolyn Wortman, longtime volunteer Pantry coordinator, about what is new at...
