Commitment Sunday is November 22nd!

On Sunday, we will celebrate all the gifts we give and all we receive at Hancock Church. We ALL have the ability to give of ourselves in some way and we can ALL feel the joy that comes from sharing our gifts with others.

  • Please bring your completed pledge card with you on Sunday to church, if you haven’t mailed it in already. (THANK YOU to those who have already pledged!)
  • Remember: A $20,000 Challenge Grant will match dollar-for-dollar amounts of NEW pledges in 2016 and increase amounts from folks who had pledged in 2015. Pledges must be received by 11/22/15 to be eligible for match!

Our stewardship practice encompasses all the ways we use our time, talents and treasure to further God’s work in and through the Hancock community. While financial giving is a critical and long-standing cornerstone of life at Hancock, it is not the only way we give, and not the only thing we celebrate on Commitment Sunday.

ALL gifts matter. Our lives are enriched when we discern and act on our natural impulse to live generously. The faithful practice of giving joyfully, regardless of the gift given, is the seed that God brings into bloom as the beloved Hancock community.

Thank you for your generous support of Hancock Church, from your 2016 Stewardship Team: Daryl Battin, Robin DiGiammarino, and Bess Deck

Need a pledge packet? Please call Jane Park the church office at (781) 862-4220.

Challenge Grant!

Breaking News! An anonymous and very generous donor has provided a “challenge grant” of $20,000 to encourage everyone to share in the joy of giving! This donor will match, dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000 total, for any of the following:

  • The total amount pledged by a person/family making a pledge for 2016 who did not pledge for 2015
  • The total amount of the increase in a 2016 pledge for any person/family who pledged in 2015

Challenge funds apply to any qualifying pledges received by Commitment Sunday, Nov. 22, including pledges already received. If you would like to revise your 2016 pledge to take advantage of this match, please contact Kim Gladstone in the church office.

Remember: Pledge commitments must be received by Commitment Sunday, Nov. 22, to qualify for the match. (You still have until 12/31/16 to pay your pledge – don’t worry!)

We have already received well over 30 pledges from members and friends who are making possible the important work of Hancock Church. THANK YOU to those who have pledged!

Need a pledge packet? Please call Jane Park the church office at 781 862 4220.

How Much Should I Give.pdf

This graphic is Part 2 in the series “Straight talk about what it takes to run Hancock Church.” It shows annual pledge amounts based on different percentages of annual income.

We invite you to consider:

  • If everyone who receives a pledge packet this year pledges at the Sustaining Pledge level for their personal income bracket, we will easily meet our $725k pledge goal for 2016.
  • All members and friends of Hancock have the opportunity lead through service based on their unique gifts and talents. Similarly, everyone has the opportunity to lead through giving based on their unique financial circumstances. Leadership giving at any income level reflects a personal commitment to ensuring that Hancock will continue to be here for us, and for those who come after us.

The pledge packets have all been mailed and we have already received some pledge cards back! THANK YOU to those who have made a pledge. Remember to mail or bring your pledge card back as soon as possible, and not later than Nov. 22 (Commitment Sunday).

If you do not receive a pledge packet in the mail by Saturday, Nov. 7, please call Jane Park the church office at 781 862 4220.

Stewardship Handout

Many Hancock members and friends have asked for a straightforward explanation of what it takes to run Hancock Church every year. Your Stewardship team developed this graphic to illustrate Hancock’s financial realities.

Bottom line: It costs about $20,000 each week to be the church we are today.

What happens when we give? You’ve heard stories over several Sundays about how God acts through Hancock Church to change lives. Your gifts help interfaith gardens grow across the state and across the world, bring new church leaders together across a continent, and put young people on a lifelong path of service. Your gift can transform you.

Check out your pledge packet that will arrive in the mail by early next week for more information about giving.
