Climate Ride is a nonprofit organization that organizes life-changing charitable events to raise awareness and support sustainability, active transportation, and environmental causes.

This year, Sustainable Harvest International (SHI) is one of the beneficiaries of Climate Ride events across the country. Hancock Church has been a dedicated supporter of SHI since 2009, raising funds to sponsor SHI’s work in Piedras Negras, Honduras, and sending mission groups to work with local field trainers and farmers in implementing SHI agriculture programs in Honduras and Panama. The Climate Ride opportunity is a wonderful way for Hancock to continue our support of SHI.

Sustainable Harvest is putting together a team to ride from Bar Harbor to Boston on the Northeast Climate Ride in September. The route goes right through Lexington and includes a lunch stop in Concord.

Elliott Powell, Sustainable Harvest’s Field Program Director, is SHI’s Team Captain. He will be riding and would love to have Hancock supporters and others join the team. The riders will also need encouragement in the last leg of the ride, and Hancock is planning events for a contingent to cheer them on.

The Northeast Climate Ride is fully-supported and takes place from September 8-12th. It’s 390 miles of beautiful cycling through New England. SHI has a lot to gain through this event, both via the fundraising done by the riders and the publicity. You can read more about the ride here.

If you are interested in joining SHI’s team or know someone who might be,

please let us know. If you are interested in being part of the cheering contingent also let us know. You can contact Charlotte Dougherty (781.863.8018) or simply text “CLIMATE” to 66866 and you’ll immediately get an email with all the links and information you need. Feel free to contact us with any questions/ideas to help make the 2016 Northeast Climate Ride a success.
