The Jameson Singers Present Mozart’s Requiem

On Sunday, May 14, The Jameson Singers will perform Mozart’s powerful Requiem in a completion by Mozart scholar Robert Levin. This concert will take place at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Hancock Church on the Battle Green in Lexington.

Left incomplete at his death, Mozart’s Requiem was completed at the time by his student Sussmayer. Dr. Levin has stripped out Sussmayer’s changes and additions and completed the work in greater accord with Mozart’s own compositional practices. The result is a piece both familiar and unexpected at the same time. Also on the program are Mozart’s otherwordly Ave verum corpus, and two works by Heinrich Schutz. The Singers, now in their 7th season, are a highly acclaimed 60 voice chorus under the direction of nationally known conductor Dr. Jameson Marvin, the former Director of Choral Activities at Harvard University from 1978 to 2010. Composed of many of his former students, the group has performed to glowing reviews and been featured at the American Choral Directors Association convention.

Admission is a suggested donation of $15 per person. Free parking is available in the rear of the church. The church is fully handicap accessible. For more information, call 781-862-4220.
