Over 1 billion people are undernourished and over 40% of the world's population lives on less than $2 a day. 36 million in the USA experience hunger, of which 14 million are children. And these numbers are climbing.

Feeding 5000 is Hancock’s three-year mission to learn, work together, and find sustainable ways of addressing hunger, while nurturing our church community and involving 100% of the congregation in some way.. This campaign was officially launched with a sermon by Dana during worship on Sept. 28, 2008 and at the Linger Lunch afterward.

The theme for Year One is that we as individuals and a church community can make a difference, today. Year Two calls for community involvement with the message of ongoing sustainability. And in Year Three, our goal of becoming Global Neighbors should lead us to make lasting worldwide connections.

Upcoming Feeding 5,000 activities to have on your calendar:

The food will be distributed by the Food Bank to the kids on Friday afternoons for weekend nutrition. We now have over 400 donations as a result of the Hancock Youth Group's fabulous effort — over 100 items donated last Sunday! Read the latest update.
