The Children's Christian Education Committee oversees the education of our children on Sunday mornings. They have implemented a new curriculum that employs theme-based lessons and classrooms to reach children of all learning styles. This group organizes activities, such as sledding, movie nights and trips to organizations like Heifer, which are instrumental in fostering community for children and their families.
The Adult Christian Education Committee seeks to enhance spiritual growth and personal commitment to Christian living. They help organize education programs such as Bible Study, Pastor's Class, First Thursdays, Lenten series, Beyond the Well and Women's retreats. Adult CE looks forward to initiating provocative lectures and film series on faith and social justice issues for the larger community as well as for Hancock.
The Stewardship Committee helps the congregation focus on our role as stewards of God's creation. This focus includes the annual financial support for the missions of Hancock Church, but also celebrates the time and talents that we are called to give to God. Their goal is to have 100% participation in both the financial support and the ministry of Hancock. This past year the committee used the Celebration Video and the Narrative Budget to help demonstrate faith in action as well as to recognize all that we accomplished.
The Prudential Committee serves as "prudent" stewards of Hancock's building and physical property. This committee oversees the maintenance, safety and upkeep of all church properties. They are responsible for identifying, planning and executing projects, renting portions of the building to the community, organizing multiple work days throughout the year (where members of the congregation can enjoy fellowship while helping to spiff up the church!), trouble shooting any physical plant problems that should arise, and paying the bills that keep the church in working order. This committee is so dedicated that former members have been known to continue to attend committee meetings!
The Assistant Collectors aid the Collector by accounting for the weekly offerings during the service. Teams of two assistant collectors work together to go through the Sunday offerings and make sure that the accounting is completed correctly. Enough teams are staffed so that each team is called upon about once a month. |
