Dear Hancock,

While we had the opportunity to say goodbye to many of you before leaving Lexington for Denver CO in September, we still wanted to send a note of thanks to the entire Hancock community for the blessing of being part Hancock over the past 10 years.  As well as to share our new address in Colorado and welcome visitors to our (4 bedroom) townhome here!

Hancock greatly enriched our entire family’s lives over the past decade.  JYO, HYG and Neon made a big impact on our kids; they carry those profound experiences and friendships with them in college and beyond (Rachel just starting at Carleton, Sarah finishing up at Amherst and Jack now working in Brooklyn).  And Cathy and I had the privilege to participate in many transformative events in Hancock’s life as it renewed itself for the first half of 21st century: listening campaigns, ministerial transitions, strategic plans, capital campaigns as well as the week to week and season to season joys of community worship and doing God’s work to make the world a better and more just place for all.  Indeed God is still speaking!

Cathy and I are excited about are new life here in Denver.  There is tremendous energy in this youthful city and the wealth of outdoor activities are astounding.

(In Colorado, when someone asks you what you do, they are not asking about your job.)  And who doesn’t like three hundred days of sunshine a year!

But of course we will miss Lexington and New England and our many friends there.  And, as if there was any doubt, we will remain faithful to our incredible New England sports teams (esp the Pats and Sox).  While we cannot promise at this point to be back often, we will definitely be back from time to time.  And in the meantime, we will keep current on Hancock’s (and Andover Newton’s) activities through the marvel of email and the internet.

As of yet, we have not had time to find a new church home, but we do have several leads and candidly are looking forward to “playing the field” a little bit. Who knows what God has in store for us in this next chapter of our lives.

Please do stay in touch and let us know if you make your way to the Denver area.   Our home address, email addresses and phone numbers can be found below.

All the best,

John and Cathy (aka the Foster/Stouts)
