Concert Series Great War 2014

Our new season kicks off with a powerful and moving remembrance of the 1st world war on this, the 100th anniversary of its beginning. Produced jointly with New England Light Opera, the afternoon will include works for baritone (Mark Morgan), piano (Beverly Soll), and string quartet (Quartetto Ardente). Performed in conjunction with Veteran’s (Armistice Day), the program includes the direct experience of the War through the poetry of Wilfred Owens, and the refracted experience of the War through the works of Herbert Howells, Ivor Gurney, Gerald Finzi, George Butterworth, and Ralph Vaughan Williams. Ravishingly beautiful, emotional, and ultimately uplifting, this is a program not to be missed. Read more about the rest of our concert series for 2014.
