The Fuller Center for Housing Millard Fuller Legacy Build 2016 has been announced! Three new homes and 2 rehabs will be completed by volunteers September 18-23, 2016 in City of the Valley, Alabama so that five families have a safe and decent place to call home. Community Garden Day at the Russell School, May 14

Join City Mission and The Russell School for Community Garden Day from 12-2pm, where we will plant new crops in preparation for harvest. The Russell School garden is a project that helps the students learn about ecology, agriculture, recycling, and composting. It also grows healthy food alternatives in an urban environment. You are welcome to bring garden tools, gloves, vegetable seeds and, of course, elbow grease to help complete the project.  A $20 per person participation fee is requested to sponsor this project. May and June Interfaith Gardeners Needed

Since 2010, Interfaith Garden volunteers have grown and delivered fresh vegetables, herbs and fruit to Lexington’s Food Pantry. Each growing season, volunteers of all ages from12 faith communities and also local service groups work and learn together while planting, tending and harvesting organically grown produce. Hancock Church provides volunteers once or twice a month, late March through October. Many families enjoy gardening together—and wheeling over carts of harvested produce to Lexington Food Pantry on Saturday mornings. This year, the Town of Lexington commemorates Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with its third annual family-friendly day of volunteer activities supporting the underserved. Come lend a hand. How To Feed a Stranger The Lexington Interfaith Food Pantry provides sustaining food to families and individuals on a weekly basis.  Hancock Church has supported this organization for many years, both with volunteers and with food distributed by the Food Pantry to strangers and neighbors in our community who must rely on the generosity of strangers – us – for assistance in meeting basic food needs.
