The Hancock Carillon and the Morning Glory Ringers (joined by some friends from Stockbridge) spent an exciting, inspiring and fun-filled four days at the AGEHR Area One Handbell Festival at the University of Rhode Island in late June. Now both groups are planning for the Christmas season. The Carillon will ring during the service on December 9 and present a concert in the sanctuary that afternoon. The Morning Glories will travel to Woburn and Nashua to present programs at New Horizons and The Huntington. Twelve Bell groups will ring at the National Heritage Museum in Lexington from 2:00 to 4:00 and at the Belmont Council on Aging on December 13. posted September 25, 2007

THE MUNCHKIN RINGERS meets at 9-9:50 am about 2 Sundays a month This is a beginning choir for 1st-2nd graders that read music and all 3rd-5th graders. Participants will learn elementary concepts of handbell ringing and reading music through games and bell ringing activities. A commitment to be on time and attend a majority of rehearsals is necessary. Come and bring a friend (if you'd like) to the FIRST REHEARSAL on Sunday, 9/16/07.
THE MARTING TO GLORY RINGERS Rehearsals will be before church from 9-9:50 and will meet about 2 Sundays a month This year this group will be an intergenerational, mixed abilities handbell choir for 6-8th grade ringers, and new high school or adult ringers. Everyone will be challenged to their own ability, working as a team to create beautiful music. A commitment to be on time and attend a majority of rehearsals is necessary. THE HIGH SCHOOL ENSEMBLE Meetings are Monday evenings from 7:30-9:00 with dessert/social time with rehearsal following David Wyman, student director This is a group for high school ringers who want to pursue challenging handbell music in a supportive group of peers. This fall there are two opportunities to travel, playing at the High School Ring Out! in Amherst, NH and at the Stockbridge UCC Church. Due to this travel schedule, attendance at every rehearsal (or find a substitute) is expected. One year ringing experience is a prerequisite. FIRST REHEARSAL Mon, 9/10/07.
The TWELVE BELL RINGERS Rehearsals are Friday mornings 9:30-10:45 Joan Rutila, director This funloving, beginner adult group is for those who do not want to perform but want to ring for their own pleasure and intellectual challenge. No experience necessary. After rehearsal, members may join with the Morning Glories for coffee and social time in the bell room. This group can be a steppingstone to one of the more advanced groups. THE MORNING GLORY RINGERS Friday mornings 9:30-10:45 This fun-loving group of adults ring intermediate level music, preparing for occasional church services, community outreach programs, and the holiday concert on 12/9. Because of this performance schedule, a commitment to attend all rehearsals (or find a substitute) is essential. After rehearsal, members may join with the Twelve Bell Ringers for coffee and social time in the bell room. One year ringing experience is a prerequisite. THE HANCOCK CARILLON Rehearsals are Wednesdays 7:00-9:00 PM An experienced group of high school and adult ringers playing five-octave music at an advanced level. A commitment to attend all rehearsals (or find a substitute) is expected. The group prepares music for church services, concerts, community outreach programs, and bell workshops/festivals.
