waiting for santa

Psalm 27:13-14

I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the Lord!

Is it just me, or does the end of Psalm 27 sound like the adult version of waiting for Santa?  All the key words are there: wait, be strong, wait, believe, wait, goodness.  Is it just me, or did the waiting for Santa seem interminable when you were little but now goes by in a flash?  Is it just me, or does seeing the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living sound like something better to believe in than a jolly old elf?  Is it just me, or does the promise of the light of God breaking into the world again and again give you reason to be strong, to let your heart take courage?  Is it just me, or does each Advent season increase your hope for peace, love, and joy for all of the living?  I’m pretty sure it is not just me.  So, let’s believe together as we wait together.

We believe that we shall see the goodness of the LORD

in the land of the living.

Wait for the LORD;

be strong, and let our hearts take courage;

wait for the LORD!
